pear package in the XML_Transformer directory creates a broken tgz
archive. The archive seems to have right filesize, but when I try to
tar xvfz it, I only get a package.xml file from it.
Could this be related to current streams issues?

The patch at

upgrades the bundled expat library to the current version.
It compiles, with some linker warnings, on Win32 and seems to work ok.

establish an extension repository with PECL to unbundle extensions
from the PHP distribution.

Just tested it with the Apache 2.0 Filter SAPI and it works fine.
I guess this answers the question of whether or not it's sapi/cgi
related.

I just noticed that when using error_log() in a Apache 2.0 Filter
environment error.log entries are not prefixed with a stamp like
[Mon Aug 26 18:33:13 2002] [error] [client 192.168.0.1] ... text ...

method to call.
Changing this behaviour would break scripts, at least some of mine :-)
