PHP settings can be altered outside of php.ini (using Apache .htaccess files for example) Add this line to page2.php to see the run-time setting: echo " register_globals is : ".ini_get('register_globals'); Something might be wrong with your PHP install if it's a recent version and $_POST isn't there..
