Do the same thing your doing, but insert the following after where it should
be set to see if it was:
print_r($HTTP_SESSION_VARS);
If it worked, you'll see it.
If not, you'll see it. Then you can progress from there.

Simply registering the array works for me. I don't have to monkey with any
serializing or anything.

Array and Object are serialized by session module.
Therefore, PHP4 session can handle both Array and Object seamlessly. (i.e. You
don't have to do anything)
Make sure you define Class (include class def) before starting session. Don't
forget re-initialize resources such as database link also.
