I still can't resolve this one. When I go to phpBB's install.php it says "Unable to connect to the database".
But my 1-line phpinfo() looks OK (MySQL installed and active), and I can access MySQL from the command-line (I did so to set up the phpBB database and username). What's the trick to getting PHP to talk to MySQL? This is a virgin install of FC3 with the following: mysql-server-3.23.58-14 mod_auth_mysql-20030510-5 libdbi-dbd-mysql-0.6.5-9 php-mysql-4.3.10-3.2 php-4.3.10-3.2 perl-DBD-MySQL-2.9003-5 mysql-3.23.58-14 mysql-bench-3.23.58-14 php-pear-4.3.10-3.2 mysql-devel-3.23.58-14 MySQL-python-0.9.2-4 php-ldap-4.3.10-3.2 I downloaded and unwrapped phpBB.2.0.11 as there doesn't seem to be an RPM for it yet. ///Peter -- BTW last time I mailed this list I got all sorts of weirdo answers from HR units thanking me for applying for the job.
