This seems reasonable. The two projects are both PHP+MySQL
applications that do essentially the same thing. I don't see many

I agree with your assessment here but would add that a Java realtime
viewer wouldn't necessarily be a good thing. I deal with so many
customers that despise Java because of the problems regarding
versions, crashes, etc.
Surely there's a better method than Java?
