hullo guys, plzz someone clarify why tomcat5.5 wos introduced as a new package and not a upgrade to tomcat5 and why its still in experimental(and dat too .15 and not .17 which has been released quite some time back)?

This was done because Tomcat 5.5 was designed to run on JDK 1.5 while
Tomcat 5.0 also supports JDK 1.4. For example, I'm currently working on
a project were we have to stick
