Sorry, but commenting out that line didn't solve the problem to me. Here is
my output:
vincent@PC-Vincent:~$ ls -lh /etc/alternatives/java

vincent@PC-Vincent:~$ cat
the command line. It shows you the log
output and the raised exception.
My machine is configured for Debian/Testing.

that did solve my problem.
After commenting out the line in the file accessibility.properties as you
described, freemind starts without any problems.

Hallo,
I have installed OpenJDK-7 and OpenJDK-8.
Freemind is starting normally with OpenJDK-7 but hangs in the splash
screen when started with OpenJDK-8.
When I start freemind without any settings
$ freemind
it will use OpenJDK-8 (from
/lib/jvm/jdk-6-oracle-x64 to the full directory name.
