It seems to work:

and it'll start with -4.

I think we should have something that's fairly conservative, yes. «As
possible» is too strict. We shouldn't try calling home by default, for
instance.

I'd lean slightly the other way, have a systemd-core/systemd-minimal
that includes minimal things and then a syste
found.

Yes.
minkus is minkus.d.o, mips porterbox, not that I think arch makes a
difference here.

That's a uniliteral move by the sysvinit maintainers without soliciting
input from other init system maintainers.

Tol
iscuss this.
Just ship both a .service file and a init script. Make sure they have
the same name and the .service file will override the init script.

Steve's argument is that choosing sysvinit-core over systemd-sysv should
automatically reflect on choosing systemd-shim over systemd-sysv. We do
not necessarily think this is the case and both decisions ne
rvice.
/etc/inittab is a sysvinit-only configuration file, so this is
expected. Arguably, we should warn once if the inittab has been changed
from the shipped default.

Why would anything depend on init? It's an Essential: yes package, so
you shouldn't add Depends on it.

Those are just a random sample from my colo box, it would be trivial to

No, it's not. We don't consider it unsuitable for release. Feel free
to get the release team to chime in or provide a justification pointing
to the relevant bit of policy.
