Plasma 5.7 requires Qt 5.6.x
Kded was broken with Qt5.6.0. It works with 5.5.x and 5.6.1. (Or patched Qt
5.6.0)
We didn't want plasma to rely on Qt 5.6.x whilst there was no actual
working version of released Qt as it sends a bit of a confusing message but
nothing in plasma requires Qt 5.6.1.
I
Well that makes no sense :) kded is in frameworks and has no minimum Qt set.
I'll just bump plasma-workspace as that is where Plasma sets it. I'll let
packagers know too they would need to patch.

Its kded that needs Qt 5.6.0 to be patched or to be running Qt 5.6.1 in
order to not break.
That's in frameworks not plasma.

"today is a good day to bump"

Let me rephrase a bit as I guess it wasn't that clear in the beginning: did
the Qt Project say anything about the 5.6.1 {expected, tentative} schedule?

Are there some *guarantees* from Qt on a release? Consider they'd let their

Hey,
During today's Plasma meeting, we've decided to go ahead and switch Plasma's
Qt dependency to 5.6.1 (which is to be released shortly).
That means: if you're building Plasma from git master, you'll have to rebuild
your Qt from git as well, to the 5.6 branch.
The reason is that we need Qt 5
