Before I go and create this plugin I just want to 100% sure it doesn't
exist.
I want to be able to create a collection.
Specify the metadata fields to show, and then have them show using
nice css class names.
Then I can use diazo to reformat the look if I want.

I'm not thinking about this very deeply, but why not improve tabular view
with better HTML/CSS markup and contribute improvements back to core as a
PLIP? That's one less product to maintain and everybody benefits from the
improvements. These templates are, AFAIK, not really actively maintained,
