Our news feed on plplot.sf.net continues to have troubles.
The URL's of the individual news items have been bad for a long time which
gives an immediate and obvious "black eye" for our project, and I was
reminded of this again today when checking out the latest iteration
of our website

PLplot Release 5.9.6 doesn't go anywhere. The link is

and the page loaded says ERROR

Version 5.9.6 of PLplot is now available. Improvements since 5.9.5
include making PLplot aware of LC_NUMERIC locale, linear gradients, a
cairo windows driver, custom axis labeling, universal coordinate
