For years we have been plagued by trailing space issues on quite a few lines in many of our text files. I have just made an extremely intrusive (651 files changed, 8548 insertions(+), 8534 deletions) commit (4e9797dc) to fix these issues. See the commit message for the regex pattern I used for the files I excluded from this change.
This commit passed all my comprehensive testing (both noninteractive and interactive). So if this commit has introduced a bug, it is likely not going to be seen by many users. Nevertheless, it is possible your daily use may differ in some random way from our comprehensive testing and thus might find some issue that this commit introduces.
