It looks like the old cvs Attic got seriously decluttered recently, before the
svn conversion. I see:
$ tar tjvf plplot-cvsroot.20070225.tar.bz2 |grep Attic| wc -l
1341
$ tar tjvf plplot-cvsroot.20070304.tar.bz2 |grep Attic| wc -l
51
which is an awful lot of history lost between the date
