if I understand it correctly, you are using the packages provided by
Ubuntu? As it happens, Tcl 8.5.8 was released yesterday (which includes
the patch for xhost/send).
You might want to try this:
- Get ActiveState's Tcl 8.5.8 distribution
- Build PLplot from the source distribution
