Use your favorite text editor (vi, emacs, gedit, etc) to create your Pascal
source code. Then compile your source code to produce the executable,
using a command like:
gpc myprogram.pas -o myprogram
Since gpc is a Pascal to C translator, I believe that it uses the c-compiler

I don't think it would "undermine the prupose of having raid 1". On software
raid, RAID 1 gives you a backup disk. Should the primary disk fail, you still
have to setup the mirror disk to become the primary before you can boot off it.
If you want a RAID 1 setup where you can boot off any one
Because... the "hardware" RAID in most entry-level controllers
(Promise, etc) is fake hardware RAID. It still uses the CPU, there is
just some magic going on inside the RAID BIOS so that dumb OS'es like
MSDOS and Win98 will be able to "see" the RAID volume as a single
drive and access it with Int

Why would one want to disable hardware RAID and go for software RAID,
especially if it works on the Linux kernel you'll be using? Jus
Software raid, that is.
