Thanks. I just hope manufacturers start supporting H264+AAC. :-)

Yes.

At least DIVX/XVID-coded video and MP3-coded audio. WAV audio too. The ones I
have are a few years old. I don't know if the newer ones
I use ffmpeg for the encoding. [If you're on Ubuntu, use the Medibuntu
repository for additional codecs].
vcodec is H264
acodec is AAC
here's the command line:
ffmpeg -y -threads 4 -i 'input.vob' -s 320x240 -r 29.97 -vcodec h264 -g

what codecs can those dvd players from Quiapo play?
H264 and AAC can have very low bitrates and still maintain good quality.

Indeed. One of my first projects on Lin
technically you can fit more if you drop the bitrate. but that means
atrocious video quality. It may be good enough for small screen media
players, but definitely not for projecting on a big screen.

Does it have to be DVD Video? Why not use .avi files instead? As even the
cheap DVD players you can buy in Quiapo can play this type of file. A 1-hour
Standard Definition NTSC .avi video (480p?) is about 300MB, so you can easily
cram 14 hours into a DVD disc without sacrificing the video and
i'm using DeVeDe in ubuntu and i can only put about 14 hours into a
4.7gb dvdvideo.
has anyone tried less than 500kbps video bitrate?
