Run IPtraf, it gives a good summary of the breakdown of the network traffic.

A friend is in the hospital with pneumonia - tubes down the throat
and all. His biggest complaint is that he can't communicate - he
can write on a pad if someone holds it. He is a hardware geek,
and very bright (with ankylosing spondylitis and a lot of
autoimmune trouble).

All,
I have a usb 2.0 WD drive I bought to store vm images on. It worked long
enough to get the images on, but now doesn't seem to want to mount, on
either Linux or Windows. It's formatted NTFS and lights up and spins,
just never mounts. This is my dmesg output:

Yes. Lots of us (maybe not the majority, but still quite a few) like
the Unix goodness of OS X.

I have a USB sound device that shows up as

at it. Someday I will get around to writing a
I would say it's likely. I had this card:

And while I had to fight to get it to view the TV input, it always worked
just fine as a basic video
ATI Rage 128 GL 16MB AGP 2X Video Card 109-51800-01 VGA
Is this video card Linux compatible? It just has a vga out,
nothing else. I have a Pentium II 440BX chipset motherboard
with I presume an AGP 2x port. All I'm after is 1024x768 at
reasonable color depth.

Under Linux it shows up as C-Media when I do an /sbin/lsusb. I go to do
an alsaconf though and it doesn't detect it. This usb speaker/mic cable
only seems to work in XP. I got it from usbgear, it was supposed to
work in 98SE as well. It doesn't.
It just says USB to AUDIO CABLE on it. Has anyo

I recently replaced my NFS server with a new Intel dual processor machine.
The moment I turned it on, I noticed that between it an my workstation
there is a constant 25Mb/s of NFS read traffic, regardless of my activity.
My wife's workstation doesn't have this issue.
