Ah, that's what I did incorrectly. I used the txz file rather than the
source. Sigh. It's been a long day with this.

If the distro is new enough and you need to test this often then I would
look at the x2go packages.
That should make things actually usable across the DSL link.

One of the joys of Linux is that it isn't difficult to administer
a machine remotely. My wife has a machine in her office with an
older distro. Last night I ran updates and OpenOffice doesn't
work anymore. I seems that a support library went AWOL.
Rather than fix that older version of OpenOffi

Well, it used to. Guess I now need to see if mod_perl needs to be updated
for apache-2.4.x.

httpd after making changes to httpd.conf.

Progress has been made, but now there's a permissions problem.
The error_log showed a missing module (for ldap, which I don't use) so I
commented out the module that calls it.
I already have an x86-64 machine running as a file server,
authentication/directory server, and some other tasks... it's on all the time
anyway, so adding Plex was a non-issue for me. I have a tendency to assume all
linux users have servers, although I know that, logically, that makes no sense

Jason,
Sorry about that:
Not Found
The requested URL /sql-ledger/login.pl was not found on this server.
When you say, "does not load", does that mean you get a blank page? Or a
404 page? Another error? Or does it display the contents of login.pl?
You might get a hint from the error log. Not sure where this lives on
Slackware, but generally /var/log/apache or /var/log/httpd.
