You didn't say which Mint variant, but for both the GUI updater handles
both packages and kernel/system updateds.

I'd be interested. I'd also be interested, if possible, in using
a generic USB storage device instead of a Yubi stick.
I don't currently have a real need for two-factor authentication
but recently experimented with just using a script launched from

Recently switched to CenturyLink for my ISP and am not finding
finding any SMTP server to relay through, even when connected
through their gateway. A "chat" w/ a CL liveperson rep suggested
that they only allow @centurylink.net accounts to use
their out-going mail server(s) - that seems rather res
Was curious about this as I've never tried to print onto an envelope with
my HPLJ 2100TN. Just tried it and it worked fine using the following:
- OpenOffice.org Writer
- Format>Page...>Page
"Page Style" = "#10 Envelope"

tee(1) is kinda like what you've described:
ex. # fortune | tee /tmp/fortune_catcher.txt

It sounds like you're mixing grubs; grub on your knoppix disc is probably
"legacy grub" while ubuntu has moved to grub2. Probably you'll want to
just do a clean install of ubuntu which will install grub2 and set it up.
If you want to revert back to the old grub there is a wiki page on the

I tried clear a couple months ago. Dropped it for the following reasons:
- signal becomes very unstable on windy days
- can't change password on the Motorola WiMAX router
- SSH/SSL+IMAP sessions hung on a regular basis
- SMTP server (via gmail) rewrites From: field on ALL msgs
