the hplip site says that this printer is supported in versions 0.95 or
newer, and the current version of hplip is 3.11.5. ubuntu already has
the 3.11 branch... it'd be a very outdated distro indeed that did not
support this printer with the hplip package already in the repo.

i'd be happy to join in on something like this, and i'm also a big fan
of warbooting (rebooting demo models in retail shops to run from live

found the bottleneck. if anyone has pointers from here on ways to

I have a home network running off a linksys wrt54g2 (802.11g) router,
and file transfers between pc's on the network over NFS are only getting
~6.5Mb/s...
my understanding is that though 802.11g theoretically supports ~54Mb/s,
that real world experience is around 20Mb/s avg. As there's no other
t
bios to boot from your SATA drive,
you should be able to access the IDE hard drive as a data drive, and not
booting from it.
