I would start by disabling any add-ons you have installed and
restarting tbird. (Tools -> Add-Ons)

Something weird happened overnight. I got e-mail with T-bird this morning and
tried to reply to one. The new message form opens and has the correct To: and
Subject: boxes filled in. The composition window is empty. It usually has my
signature. When I click in that area and type, nothing appears
