For what is worth it - I'd recommend Brother's MFCxxx40*DW models such
as: B&W MFC-L2740DW or Color MFC-9340CDW. They have the same
consumables as the lower (30) models, but can scan double sided in
single pass - which is brilliant functionality to have.
Got B&W MFC-L2740DW for my university bound
That MFC-9330 does indeed look fine. I would have to rebuild part of my
desk, but it might be worth the effort.

My experience with recent vintage HP (and other) inkjet reliability over
the last several years has been abysmal. Not to mention irritating
nagware that prompts you - on all your desk and laptops - to buy new ink
when the old stuff is still fine etc. I finally junked them all and
bought a Broth
All the advice given makes sense if you use the printer a reasonable
amount. On my previous HP inkjet I needed new cartridges about once per
year, so I did not feel the urgent need for a color laser. Presently I
have an HP scanner and printer combo. It works well and I do not have the
space for

I have the same printer and I can confirm what Erik said. I
A color laser with big toner cartridges. It'll change your life man.

I ended up also going with a Brother laser. I've got the HL2280DW and I've
been very pleased with it. It's easy to refill, and cheap. They don't make
you jump through too many hoops.
Then I found out that my kids really needed color printing for school. Not
very often, but enough that I should rea

I bought an Epson XP610 about two years ago. Bought an InkProducks
continous ink system and finally had to get a refill kit last month. The

Several years ago I gave away my Deskjet 2500C because of cartridge/print

beware that "new printer" price - nowadays they come with "demonstration"
ink cartridges which are a fraction of a full cartridge. so you'd be buying
new cartridges soon anyway.
if I were you, I would take this opportunity to switch to a laser printer.
higher up-front cost, lower long term cost.
The first step in buying ANY printer is to look at ink costs.
That probably means looking at third party cartridges, refilling and
if there is chip to prevent refills like HP has.

The subject line is partly a joke. I have an HP Deskjet 932c, probably
10 years old or something vaguely like that. The ink cartridges are
about shot (currently blue instead of black, morphing into a red). A
replacement set of ink (HP 78/45) is about $80, which is close to a new
printer. The p
