No one talks about package management in ubuntu much, probably because it's
pretty easy once you get the hang of it.
In aptitude package manager (gui version, default on Gnome) you would just
type pppd and it will usually find one or more things; from the explanation
you might be able to figure ou
Have you checked apt to see if there's a version available? If Ubuntu
lists one, that's your best bet of getting something that's the right
version.
