But with OPB mentioning palindrome I realized there
are 9 consecutive dates in 22 that are
more importantly, doing

will show all the files in the newly created directory
That should be 2 namely . and ..
so 3,4, or 5 indicates you have that many directory entries.
lf "ls foo" shows nothing then there are 5 files starting with a dot.
so 3 more than just . and ..

It would be interesting to see a hex dump of one of the lines. (say
using xxd) but of course, your looking at a line of text
that something extracted from the pdf, so it's probably already mangled
before you can do a xxd.
