If the newly generated /etc/resolf.conf is identical to the old one - that
would suggest that you have local DNS resolver ru ning on your laptop.
So, if your pings to IPs start to work while the internet seems dead - you
might need to find what it is and how to configure it.
These things are diff

OK, I did that, then did sudo systemctl restart network-manager, but
still nada.

1. Uninstall the PIA client. Restore Internet access. Reinstall client.
Then do some testing on disconnecting.

That looks reasonable. Your default route is 192.168.1.1, which looks like
something your router would be.

A lot, and I can't copy and paste from one computer to another. I'll
try:
default via 192.168.1.1 dev enx3ce1a1c0dbfc proto dhcp metric 100
default via 192.168.1.1 dev enx3ce1a
That is why you should delete the file and reconnect using NM as suggested.
Hope it helps,

127.anything is going to be localhost. That is, some service on the same
computer is doing DNS resolution for you.
You problem is either routing or DNS resolution.
Try pinging 4.2.2.2 and google.com. If you can ping the numeric address
but not the domainname, then your problem is DNS. If you can

I am using Private Internet Access, which supplies its own little GUI
tool for Linux. You install it from a shell script which they supply.
I assume that you are using network manager (NM) - you do not say.
If yes:
* what is in your /etc/resolv.conf?
* If you see something else than your router just delete the file as root and
reconnect to the network using NM - it will recreate new /etc/resolv.conf
Hopefully, things will work as
Open a terminal window and type "ip route". What does it say?

Are you using a VPN service such as NordVPN or are you using a VPN client
app?

My laptop computer can access the lan, but not the internet. My desktop
computer (on which I am writing this) still connects fine. On either
computer I can log into the router, and everything looks OK, except
that I have no idea what to look for.
I have tried every command I can think of, and no l
