I recommend ekiga for a softphone in linux. It's always worked for me
whereas linphone has given me problems.

With two weeks until my FreeSWITCH presentation, I thought I'd mention a
couple things so you can get the most out of it (of what little I'm
offering, anyway).
The goal is a small office setup. We will be going over the following,
as this is very intro level, and FreeSWITCH is incredibly vast:

It is one of the fastest USB drives around, small, and durable.

Possibly some useful suggestions here:

And, a bit pricey, but "guaranteed" rugged:

Depending on what your plan for use of it, I carry around an SD card with me
everywhere. It's small enough I can keep it in my wallet and most devices that
I use have SD card slots in it. And to be totally honest, 90% of the time I
just leave it sitting in my laptop.

I was hoping to find something durable/metal and less than $50.
Your link lead to me to research swiss army drives and found this, for
about $19...

I think a pocket, especially with keys, pocket lint, dust, dirt and
sand, is an especially abusive place for a thumb drive. There are
though devices out there that are rugged for this. Though they are
more cumbersome than I would like typically.
I have known others to carry thin PCB style thumb

Don't use a key chain. I have a Mushkin Enhanced USB device. It is
small enough to fit into the watch pocket on the dungarees I usually
wear.
