I must have gotten lucky here. I have been using the same router and same cable
modem for about the last 8 years or so. Its an older model Linksys (part of the
same knows project). I am going to hate when either of those devices finally
break.

Connect a computer directly to the modem and see if you can get online,
this will tell you where a fault may be. Before calling it dead a factory
reset should be done.
