Interesting: I wanted to label the partition arch was installed on (makes it easier to mount as the device label changes between sdb and sdc) but discovered that arch isn't installed on a partition and as far as I can tell there isn't a file system on it. At least I loaded gparted to inspect it

Installing arch onto a USB stick is exactly the same as installing it to a hard disk; there's literally no difference in the installation method as Linux doesn't really care what the underlying disk is. The _only_ difference I can think of is, if using Grub, you'll want to use the
