I used to use a netgear nighthawk router years ago, loaded with dd-wrt/tomato, it was a nice router/firewall. Features weren't great, but worked for my needs at around 80mbps on cox at the time. I'm thinking since the Netgear mentioned is a cable modem AND a router, you can't put dd-wrt on it. C

So after going through 3 Netgear routers in one year. (One died, another got compromised, and the other just couldn't consistently stay online) and sticking with Linksys which seems to be doing the job okay, but can't handle the load at times. Requirements from most important to least important. -
