My current server is using a 128GB SSD caching for a 1t 5400 rpm drive. Right now i am at about 400GB of data on that combination, and the SSD is sitting at about 50-60% utilization. which is about as expected as some of the data is touched infrequently and some of it is used all the time. So i wo

Good to know - I was contemplating doing this with some spinners in it for bulk storage, as I have some 2tb's left over now. Peeling off some of those 512's to cache for the spinners might make them more useful so I don't have to burn space on the ssd's exclusively. How much ssd do you end up

I still want to try dmraid-1 plus nvme drive with lvmcache. PS SSD based lvmcache has been running well for me. On Oct 27, 2016 5:19 PM, "Michael Butash" wrote: > Thanks for the input, comments inline: > > On 10/27/2016 02:52 PM, Joseph Sinclair wrote: > > I haven't built anything on these dire

I have so far stuck with Samsung SSDs for the fde, as I was afraid running luks would shorten the life span. How long have you been running an SSD with luks? Have you noticed any degredation? Or seen any good articles about it? -- Regards, -- Nathan On 2016-10-27 09:31, Michael Butash w

Curious if anyone has taken the plunge to play with nvme-based ssd's under linux here? Particularly around raid. Not finding a lot pertaining to them that is positive toward linux on the tubes, and I'm looking to reproduce my usual raid1+luks+lvm atop them, so feedback on doing so would be ap
