Have you rebooted the machine? There are init scripts that are run at
boot time that set things up. That may make a difference.

I had been looking at the error and not the version of the driver. This
message made me look at the version of the drivers you were trying to
install and realized that they are very very old (released February 16th
2015).

Perhaps the driver is failing the DKMS driver compilation because you
are missing the kernel headers.
Try doing:
sudo apt install linux-headers-gener
so, As I have been working on this problem. There are no snaps for the
specified software: desktopvideo, desktopvideo-gui, mediaexpress. While
attempting to install them via the deb, I get dependency problems revolving
around dkms. While attempting an 'apt --fix-broken install' I get this
output: h
None that I observed or detected. I will be working on it again tomorrow
morning.
