I think the low graphics resolution is a symptom rather than the actual
issue.
I do not know if the graphics driver is present or not.
I think if it is missing I can get it downloaded myself.

kernel which is installed by default. I run either the "generic" or a custom
kernel on all my machines. When the i386 kernel was updated, it was moved to
the 1st rank in /boot/grub/menu.lst

detects my cheap hardware. Before that, trixbox.
