moin moin Brandon,
I'm working on this really exciting open source online world map
called OpenStreetMap.www.openstreetmap.org and http://wiki.openstreetmap.org
Thanks for working on OpenStreetMap. Someone introduced me to it over the
summer. Coo
I downloaded and tried the Avast! BART cd on a "hallmarked" machine, and
it didn't detect anything. Maybe it didn't have the newest signature
files. IMO UBCD4WIN is better as it has multiple antivirus and
anti-spyware programs, including the ability to update the antivirus
signatures from the i

I went with Kubuntu 8.04 because KDE 3.5.9 detected the Intel Wireless
thank you :-)

Honestly there are so many Live CD's out there you can aquire one of
them and get a nearly full experience of what the OS will be have like
I would probably suggest Ubuntu 8.04 or 8.10 as a start unless you
already have a preferred distribution. OpenSUSE is also very solid in
their driver support.
Linksys provides GPL versions of all firmware.
Many setup Open WRT and Busy Box versions from these tools.
Has anyone played with Sveasoft.com's mods?

I'm in for all of that definitely... I'd be happy to come down for
presentations. If there's interest and space, I will be available
Friday Dec. 5 all afternoon for any presentations. I can also fly down
other times and would be happy to do so.
As for the mapping party on the 6th & 7th, Alan
I subscribed last year to Sveasoft and it was not worth it. It was a
very buggy firmware and the router did not have good uptime. Alot of
features that it was supposed to have did not work properly, i.e. QOS. I
would NOT recommend it.
I use Tomato as it has been great! http://www.polarcloud.co
I know for a long time Sveasoft wasn't releasing the
source for their firmware and I'm not sure if that's still the case of
not. Google a little if you're interested in the controversy, it's
pretty entertaining. I used to run "pirated" versions of Sveasoft until
I learned about Tomato

bitteschön!
Also,
I secured a booth space for OSM at SCALE a couple weeks back, so
definitely come say hello if any of you are going.
Cheers,

This is slightly offtopic... Does anyone know how to set static IP addresses
for the WRT45GL using the shipped firmware (I see no way)? If there isn't,
does Tomato or some other FOSS firmware support it?
Thanks,
Eric

There should be a dropdown box on the main page that by default says "Automatic
Configuration - DHCP" that should be changed to "Static IP". This will provide
the boxes necessary to input a static IP. As with all Linksys products, the
default IP to point your web browser is 192.168.1.1, no use
Can't speak for the default firmware, but I know you
can in Tomato. I assume you mean Static DHCP where the IP is assigned
based on the MAC. If you mean static IP facing the router, then it
depends on your provider. You can usually do that even with a dynamic
account, but it usually goes agains
I'm sorry. The router gets a dynamic IP address from Cox. I meant static IPs
for my local computers. I have a Dlink router on another network that can
assign IP addresses statically to computers that obtain IP addresses via
DHCP. I find that feature very useful for port forwarding, etc.
Thanks in a
That I am unsure of. If you can, this option would be in the DHCP Active IP
Table which can be found under "Status | Local Network".

anyone know of any sim city style games that are more than one player or even
MMORPG ?
Obviously, I would prefer a linux variant, but the idea is fascinating that i
would like to know all OS' possibilities.
