I gotta say, I think you put too much weight on
piracy. As has been mentioned around here before, most people are very
happy with their older machines and see no need to upgrade either
hardware or software. For most people, a P4 running XP is all they will
need for the rest of their life in all

Suggestions: EXPECT to BUILD and configure and investigation RH (Fedora
"core") systems a few times to learn well! Come to installfests and PLUG
presentations; make some personal friends amoung the exceptional expertise in
the group; ask questions including all documentation, logs and steps

as RHEL without th

All,
Possibly a dumb question, so I apologize ahead of time!
I Know admittedly little about Red Hat or Fedora.
If I decided I want to learn as much about Red Hat as possible, should I
get an official Red Hat release or is Fedora similar enough that I could
learn how Red Hat does things? Is the
Most people would still buy their software provided that it was priced
reasonably.
Microsoft Office ***upgrade*** version is over $300.
If I were Microsoft I'd use OSS as a jump off point, slap a pretty user
interface on it and sell it with support.

I would also add that with people wanting to stay with XP and Office being so
feature rich, M$ seems to be at a turning point of becoming an IBM. Still big

a general sense Microsoft laying off 5000 people sucks but in another sense
I would like to think that this is partially our (the Linux world's) doing.
