Updates depend on both the manufacturer and the carrier. They also depend on the hardware. Some hardware just isn't capable of running newer versions without major slowness or UI issues. Your carrier should let you know if/when new versions are coming, they don't often do a good job of that, h

I had a Cliq, the screen gave me all kinds of issues. Anyway, they rooted the Cliq, so loading a custom rom isn't hard, but I didn't keep track of where those are found these days. I loved my G1 and am hesitant to buy a Nexus One because of radio issues I've read about. I use my Touch Pro2 with
