Doing the sudo update=grub would have replaced the MBR on sda unless you
specified otherwise. That should not be a problem unless you actually WANT
to be unplugging and plugging drive to change what boots. The Win7 loader

The update-grub command (which just points to grub-mkconfig) just
assembles grub's config file. The MBR remains unchanged until you do a
grub-install, so your drives should be 100% intact unless you've done
something to them trying to fix them.
