well im not sure if you want to look or not but the HP G60-535DX runs
Ubuntu 9.10 with just about everything i use working out of the get
go. and looks to be 560 ish

I would take a look at makeinh a disk image then restore to vm or if
useing xen you can use thir tools to convert to virtual

Before you toss that Dell, check this website:
http://www.parts-people.com/ I use them and they are great! Flat rate
repairs are really cost effective for those older laptops.

I have had a LOT of success with Sun's VirtualBox and I have installed
Windows7 Ultimate to play with.
