When (I) installed/upgraded it stuck the plain vanilla ntfs on my fstab :'( Just as an aside, ubuntu 7.10 inherently supports ntfs including for write using ntfs-3g as shown on http://www.ubuntulinux.org/getubuntu/releasenotes/710tour though I've not tried writing yet.

Definitely take it to the installfest. Especially for dual-boot setups, it can get a bit tricky, and a little extra help first-time through can save a mountain of headaches. Be sure to bring the OEM restore/install disk with you, since in a Windows/Linux dual boot, Windows has to be installed

Ubuntu uses a program called Synaptic to handle packages. Go to System, Administration, Synaptic and enter your password when prompted. I have a dell precision m90 laptop and a 250gb freeagent external hdd. I just reformatted and installed ubuntu 7.10 on the laptop. I have all my files and what not stored on the external. When running live from the disc, I could access the drive but now that it's installed, it says the drive
