Today, I was shocked to find a thousand-plus empty hidden directories and
files on my system and I don't know how they got there or why there are
there.
Is there any reason why I should not delete them?
There may be more in other places, but the ones I just discovered are

It could be done, but basically that would make flash fail in doing what it's
doing because it can't write files.
I guess in this case, the fix would be to disable flash :D

Most of that is cache data (e.g. swf's code fragments, etc...). They do store
Flash cookies in .macromedia and/or .adobe, but the directories you see are

Debian 6, with the Firefox "BetterPrivacy" plugin configured to delete
DOM and LSOs everytime I close the browser. At first I only had a
settings.sol and a #mail.google.com item in each of those folders - and
the only thing I'd done in Firefox since I had
