I found that I need to add the line 'blacklist hp_wmi' to the file
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf . I then rebooted and now I have graphics
again! Yipee.
I think I also 'apt-get remove fglrx' because I installed it previously on
my system but it is not there now.
Aparently, from what I've been told
I just upgraded the laptop. This is what it does now:
1- start the computer
2- option to enter BIOS appears
2a-if do nothing screen goes black with power to it for about 20 seconds
2b- upon restart it gives you a choice of kernels to start with
2b1-if you choose the 3.1.4 screen goes blank then s
Okay..,. Time to change the title because now I know what broke the
problem is x broke. It doesn't seem to want to play with the new kernel
nicely this time around. Before I screwed around with the 64 bit processor
and then went back to the 32 bit animal it did. What I don't understand is
