I'm not clear what difficulty you are having.
To install AlienBBC on XP it is best to use the Windows installer -
this will install the plugin and mplayer.

perhaps a preference to save out to the playlist file or not. This
could be easily accomplished in the web ui. Users could then choose to
save to DB only or to the DB and playlist file. This could be a cool
way to create only temporary playlists.

Softsqueeze 2.3 from work and connect to SS 6.5 at home. I have
bitrate limited to 128. Once in a while (almost every day) when I
stream a file it will screech (like fast-forwarding an old cassette)
and then it won't play and I w
Alas, you don't unless you run the RSS screensaver...
And the sucky part (which I've now found out :P) is that the RSS plugin
only checks feeds once an hour, so there is a huge latency.
I'll have to think about it.. maybe it's best to rip apart the pop3
mail checker and use that for notification
I have not tested it on 6.5 yet. This version was designed with 6.2.x
in mind.
The plugin will save the playlist tracks to the filesystem playlist
file. I wanted this functionality so playlists wouldn't disappear
after a rescan.

don't want to switch to 6.5 with all its possible bugs (in fact my wife
recognized the "all songs" bug since she selected "all songs" and
expected to see only all songs of the selected artist). I always press
PLAY on the artist
Sorry Dan, you have to actually supply the argument on startup. The
plugin initialisation is only run once.
You'll need to stop SlimServer, open the OSX equivalent of the command
prompt, cd to the SlimServer install and run
Slimserver.pl --d_plugins
