setup the Squeezebox in my shop. Now I can add a custom text welcoming
customers.
You know, the humor involved in somebody putting a custom string in
boot.ini would be quite amusing! Perhaps point it to /etc/lilo.conf?

I thought about this problem in a slightly different way. Because of
the difficulty in getting description from the current menu - I thought
about enabling the "What's On" menu for each of the main stations to be
read on line as a new set of menus - this is easier to handle from a
developers poi

Isn't it 2 files ? One .pm and one .txt ?
It's one file FileViewer.pm - the boot.ini file defined in the code is
part of Windows (don't touch it!). You should replace its value with the
file you'd like to display.

How do you use it with slimserver ? Uploaded it to plugins and created a
.txt-file, but I can't find it in screensaversettings !?
You must save it as .pm file, _not_ .txt. Then restart your slimserver. It
should show up in Server Settings / Plugins.

I added them all to the trusted apps on the firewall and I did try the
other socketwrapper (but I didn't re-add it to the trusted apps list -
hmm might be worth a try when I get back from work).

I've spent the last few hours fruitlessly trying to get this plugin to
work.
I'm using 6.5.1 on Mac OS X (10.4.8) and have downloaded the correct
version of the plugin (6.5).
It just doesn't show up in the list of plugins at all. I've tried
restarting the server several times to no avail.

I think the Wiki needs updating regarding plugin installation on Mac OS
X. The information that is currently there has you looking in the wrong
place, at least if you have the server installed for "all users".

Thanks for the reply and link. I know now what was confusing me. The
forums I was reading had people using the IR signal to generate Control
S and the folks were stripping the carrier from code to verify the
correct codes, but it does appear there is a difference.
I see two solutions:
1. I c
The "10054" error message usually indicates a problem with security s/w.
What version of Norton ? In many cases disabling the s/w/ is not enough
- it has to be uninstalled as the s/w interferes with networking.
Have you told Norton that slimserver, mplayer and socketwrapper are all
"trusted" apps
