I believe I have finally tracked this one down. The problem, I think, is
not to do with the server at all but with the client. I'm streaming to
an http client (don't own a Squeezebox) and with d_remotestream
d_source flags set the following appears:
2007-11-24 01:03:15.7062 Alien only streams to S
Yes, I had upgraded to the latest version to no avail. Anyway, deleted
existing folder and reinstalled from scratch and have it going again.

Okay. So I signed up. Now, one more site has my email address, but I

Actually the plug in does work with aif! Your answer showed the way:
Since aif is listed among native formats, I just tried unchecking the
option converting aif files to flac. And voilà, Song Scanner did the
job quite nicely!
(I don't know whether this has some repercussions in other aspects

Really needing a ffw/rwd feature I've worked my way through the forums
and found the Song scanner plugin + remapping the remote to be the
