I had a listen to R3 and R4 on Play Again: they both sound the same to me, definitely mono and presumably the one-channel-mono'd prob. I think it's possible that no one else has flagged it because it is quite subtle. For most music you'll get an OK mix: the Beatles track highlighted the problem

My guess is because the old mplayer and mplayer-nogui were effectively the same - a command line mplayer. The new version of mplayer is the GUI frontend and so had to remove the old mplayer. Try running mplayer-nogui from the shell prompt with "--help" option. -- bpa -
