You will need to point the Browse configuration directory parameter in the Custom Browse main settings page to a directory where you want your Custom Browse menu configurations to be stored. It's set to the playlist directory by default, but I suppose you might not have a playlist directory

You want to look at the Manage header/footer items sub section in the Custom Browse settings. The important type is the first part of the name of the menus shown in this list, for example the libraryartistheader of the menu called libraryartistheader/Album. This is controlled in the menu

sudo is different in that there is no real superuser account but you use your normal account and increase privileges. If you want to run several commands in a row the workaround is sudo bash -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote, at penguinlovesmusic.com
