Hi
Have installed via the installer on the mediaserver.smartskills.tech
site - all simple enough to follow and using powershell on windows to
install with ngrog - worked fine.
Have linked the skill via amazon and again straight forward to do.
Using with Echo dot - 2nd / 3rd gen can connect to
You only need Samba to see your music files from Windows PC
Instead you can use WinSCP to see your music files from Windows PC
You dont need either to just play music.
Are you actually saying that when you look via LMS with Material or
Default you cant see all files? So cant play all music.
Sorry, I've re-read your first post.
I would attach the USB drive to your Windows box, copy all your music
files to it, attach it to your Pi, and point LMS to the music on the USB
drive.
Use a programme like FreeFileSync to update new and changed music files.

I'm afraid you'll need to describe your setup, you've lost me there.

Where is your music library? Is it on your Windows
It shoul run on the Pi. Otherwise, I had to start the desktop everytime
I want to listen to music and this is exactly what I wanted to solve.

Also try using WinSCP as an alternative to Samba. Does the issue still
exist via this route?

Maybe not what you're asking, but... If you open an ssh connection to
the Pi, the df command will tell you the total, used, and available
space. https://linuxcommand.org/lc3_man_pages/df1.html
df -T will also tell you the file system type.
For example:

Is there a diganostics section for USB mount, to check if it is mounted
correctly to Pi4?

The APL player-controls received a facelift. @staresy pointed out that
the badges for the repeat/shuffle buttons were being cropped on the Echo
Show 5. There was a bug in the APL simulator that was hiding this for me
and I could not verify on a real device, but the simulator has been
