Regarding installation on OSX: It should be quite simple with the new
version. As written in the documentation you need to install some
dependancies. On OSX thees can be installed from the terminal using the
following command - only 3 are needed:

As far as I remember it is not recomened. I'm running Slinnas from the
internal HDD of my t5700, and FreeNAS from a 32Mb USB stick.
