Sorry to hijack the thread but I have a similar problem in that I'm seeing "Connecting" indefinitely on the screen too. (roku M1000)
Have just upgraded to SC7.1 (couldn't get 7.3 to work properly) and AlienBBC 2.2. Previously ran Slim 6.5 and alien 1.06 successfully. All the streams work perfectly on testing mplayer, but when trying to play any Live Stream I get "Now Playing (connecting...)" and nothing else.
