what surprises me its only the 'noflac' giving the error.
in the server.log, i see it start up twice, with the warning about
`auto/IO/Interface/autosplit.ix` in between.

Ehm, perhaps not. I stopped and started the service and now get the
failure spotifyd in the logs, including the debug line:

Unfortunately, spotify now works fine, too. Which is good for me. But
bad for debugging.

But squeezeserver goes through perl, so i'm not sure what user it would
be forking processes with.
I'm not sure why it's not running as root, or how to change that.

ay from the server.log. However,
nothing was written to spotifyd.log, and the startup failures remained
in the server.log
It seems the log file isnt the core issue.

m to say i'm in germany, which, ofcourse, i
am, arent we all. then rebooted squeezeserver.
but i also played with the various plugin settings. i may have
activated one and deactivated another. but i cant tell you which or
where :-)
