Just in case anyone has the same problem, it was indeed something
totally obvious. The config file path in IR-Blaster setup should point
to the directory containing the config file, not the file itself :)

I believe funkstar was talking about SqueezePlay, not SoftSqueeze. You
certainly could (legally) port SoftSqueeze, but I'm not aware of anyone
doing so.

That makes sense, thanks. All that would require is another option. As
well as Sync with B (which makes lexical sense to me as play what B
is playing) we can add Sync B with A or some similar wording which
designated the current actual player (A) as master.

haven't
tried it on either a SBR-only setup or while the SBR is the selected
player on the SBC. I tend to only use my SBRs for testing as backups
these days.

SuperDateTime has some very rudimentary controller support, it's kludgy
but it basically works. Look under Extras on the main menu. I don't
know of a native applet for the SBC but it would be neat as a screen
saver or something.

Absoloutely. As long as the two machines are on the same network it
should automatically find the server. If not, you can just set the
machine name in the preferences.

The problem is you'd have to prebuffer a large amount of time (say 20 or
30 minutes) and I don't know about you, but when I want to listen to
something I want to listent to it NOW, not in half an hour.

was transcoding when I was
testing, so that'll be the problem. Is there any way you know of to get
similar functionality (doesn't have to be exact) when transcoding? I'm
guessing not - as the external decoder would have to somehow be told to
not start at the beginning. Oh well.

Quick update - I tried the Paul Jones test stream from the install page.
From the command line mplayer plays it just fine (I left it going for a
couple of minutes). When played through the squeezebox through, it only
lasts a couple of seconds.
